In the weeks leading up to my departure from the UK, I found myself busier than ever. I had a lot to wrap up at work, a lot to prepare for my time away in terms of admin and my flat, and of course plenty of social engagements to attend. I was trying to cram 6 months of socialising into one. No mean feat.

I won’t lie, there were moments when I woke up and I thought to myself “oh my god what am I doing.” Ironically, I’m feeling more settled in my life in London than ever before. I’m very happy with how things are going. Perhaps this is why it’s the perfect time for me to head off travelling. So many people looked at me slyly and said “I bet you won’t come back. You’re gonna meet someone, or fall in love with one of the countries and just stay forever!” While I’ll never say never, right now I’m certain that I’ll be returning. I have a job, friends, a flat.. a community. I’m not done with London just yet. I feel like I’m only just starting to truly enjoy it. It feels sad to be leaving, but whenever things feel a bit overwhelming, I just remind myself that it’s only 6 months. There’s no need to be melodramatic about it!

Anyway, I finished work on the Friday, had my final leaving drinks with friends at a local brewery on the Saturday, was super hungover on the Sunday and properly started packing on the Monday. Tuesday was the big day. I cleaned my flat top to bottom before heading to the airport. Ready or not, it was time to go. First stop; Singapore. Which I’ll talk about next time obviously.

A fabulous opportunity – enjoy !
